Playing with Kaleidoscopes...
Photo Kaleidoscopes are nothing new but I was playing around with a Kaleidoscope app recently and I thought I'd share some of the outcomes with you. The one above from a pic of a Hobbit dwelling if I recall.
I was given a box of old slides from the 1950's I believe. In the box was an old battery powered slide viewer so I snapped a shot of the slide through the viewer with my phone. The slide was badly discolored as you can see below of the snap I took.
The box of slides it came from was labeled Okinawa, so I take it it was a photo taken there. And granted, the phone snap through the viewer lost a lot of detail the slide. In fact it sucked but you can still make it out and for the goof I put it through the Kaleidoscope app and well... These are the results...
What I like is what was created given the subject matter. They flow with the subject of the photo. Like the one below which still looks like a boat despite the photo being a group of boats.
This one back to looking like a group of boats...
I think they came out pretty cool. Some 2D fun for about 30 minutes on a rainy day. But fun none the less. 😀
As for what I'm going to do with all these slides...(?) Well... My first thought was to scan them all converting then to digital. Fix and correct the discolored ones. Just for practice.
I would like to upload them and others I've collected to the web. But not just anywhere. I was hoping for something like an archive kinda site. One I could associate then all the names I have on the boxes. A place people could search by name maybe. And fill in the blanks if they recognised someone in the images. A place people can be remembered, see old family photos long lost. A searchable data base kinda based on film and slides. But I'm unaware of any site like that. If you know of one like that, that's free, unlimited uploads. Let me know in the comments.
Thanks for stopping by, till next t time.
Stay creative, and stay Happy!
Cheers...
